How to read this table

Find your current grade in the left column, the one that includes everything except the final. Move across to the column for your final’s weight from the syllabus. The cell is the lowest final exam score that gets you to 70%. Scores are rounded up to two decimals, so hitting the number exactly reaches the target.

Three things that change the answer

When the number is over 100%

The target is gone under normal rules. Pick the next grade down and plan for that instead; chasing an impossible number costs effort that could secure the grade below it. Confirmed extra credit on the final is the only exception.

Questions about this table

What percentage is a C?
70% on the standard 10-point scale. Some schools set the boundary at 73% instead; if yours does, enter 73 as the target in the calculator.
What if my number isn’t in the table?
Open the final exam calculator and enter your exact current grade, final weight and target. The result uses the same exact arithmetic as this table.
Why does the table say more than 100%?
Because the target is out of reach under a 100% maximum. The number is shown rather than capped so you can see how far off it is and decide on a realistic target.
Does the final replace a lower exam in my course?
Then this table does not apply. Build a course plan in the weighted grade calculator or confirm with your instructor.
