Unweighted GPA Calculator
Unweighted GPA calculator on the standard 4.0 scale. Every course counts the same way — A = 4.0 down to F = 0.0, with +/- grades — weighted by credit hours. Free.

It runs separately so your grades stay away from advertising. If it doesn’t appear, open it directly.
Open the calculatorThe standard 4.0 scale.
Unweighted GPA puts every course on the same 4.0 scale — A = 4.0, A− = 3.7, B+ = 3.3, B = 3.0, down to F = 0.0 — then weights each grade by its credit hours. No course can exceed 4.0.
Worked example
A (4.0), B (3.0), A− (3.7), B+ (3.3), each 3 credits: (4.0 + 3.0 + 3.7 + 3.3) × 3 = 42 quality points ÷ 12 credits = 3.50.
How to use the unweighted gpa calculator
Leave “Weighted” off
An unweighted GPA ignores course difficulty, so no Honors or AP bonus is applied.
Choose your +/- setting
Turn “+/- grades” on for A−/B+ precision, or off for a straight A–F scale.
Enter credits and grades
Each grade is capped at 4.0 and weighted by its credit hours.
Read your GPA
This is the number most colleges recalculate to for a level comparison between applicants.
The standard grade-point values
A = 4.0, A− = 3.7, B+ = 3.3, B = 3.0, B− = 2.7, C+ = 2.3, C = 2.0, C− = 1.7, D+ = 1.3, D = 1.0, D− = 0.7, F = 0.0. With +/- turned off, only whole letters are used (A = 4.0, B = 3.0, …).
Why 4.0 is the ceiling
Because the best grade, an A, is worth exactly 4.0 and there’s no bonus, no combination of courses can push an unweighted GPA above 4.0. A number above 4.0 always means a weighted scale.
Is A+ worth more than 4.0?
Usually not — most schools cap A+ at 4.0, which is what this calculator does. A few treat A+ as 4.3; if yours does, your official GPA may be slightly higher than the number here.
