Purdue records an A+, but it carries the same 4.0 as an A — there is no bonus above 4.0 — so the standard calculator above matches Purdue exactly (enter an A+ as A).

Worked example
Two 3-credit courses graded A (4.0) and B (3.0): (4.0 + 3.0) × 3 ÷ 6 = 3.50. Add an A− (3.7) at 3 credits: 12.0 + 9.0 + 11.1 = 32.1 over 9 = 3.57.
GPA at Purdue: the formula
GPA = total quality points ÷ total credit hours, where each course’s quality points = its grade points (from the table above) × its credit hours. Courses worth more credits move your GPA more.
Honors and recognition
Purdue’s Dean’s List generally needs at least a 3.5 semester GPA (with a 3.0+ that semester); Semester Honors also uses a 3.5 semester GPA. Graduation with Distinction is set by each college’s graduation index (at least 3.30).
