Open the calculatorThe University of Florida uses a plus/minus 4.0 scale.
Two UF quirks: there is no A+ (A = 4.0 is the top), and UF writes the failing grade as E, not F. Enter an E as “F” in the calculator above — the grade points (0.0) are identical.

Worked example
Two 3-credit courses graded A (4.00) and B (3.00): (4.00 + 3.00) × 3 ÷ 6 = 3.50. A B− (2.67) added at 3 credits gives 12.00 + 9.00 + 8.01 = 29.01 over 9 = 3.22.
GPA at University of Florida: the formula
GPA = total quality points ÷ total credit hours, where each course’s quality points = its grade points (from the table above) × its credit hours. Courses worth more credits move your GPA more.
Honors and recognition
Many UF programs require a grade of C (2.0) or better — a C− may not satisfy a major or prerequisite requirement even though it earns 1.67 grade points. Check your college’s rule.
