Worked example
Two 3-credit courses graded A (4.0) and B (3.0): (4.0 + 3.0) × 3 ÷ 6 = 3.50. Add a B− (2.7) at 3 credits: 12 + 9 + 8.1 = 29.1 ÷ 9 = 3.23.
GPA at University of Maryland: the formula
GPA = total quality points ÷ total credit hours, where each course’s quality points = its grade points (from the table above) × its credit hours. Courses worth more credits move your GPA more.
