This calculates your university (campus) GPA once you’re enrolled at a UC — A+ counts as 4.0, same as an A. That’s different from the UC admissions “a–g” GPA used for applications, which weights approved honors/AP courses and is capped. For your campus GPA, the calculator above matches UC exactly (enter A+ as A).

Worked example
Two 3-credit courses graded A (4.0) and B (3.0): (4.0 + 3.0) × 3 ÷ 6 = 3.50. Add a B+ (3.3) at 4 credits: 12.0 + 9.0 + 13.2 = 34.2 over 10 = 3.42.
GPA at University of California: the formula
GPA = total quality points ÷ total credit hours, where each course’s quality points = its grade points (from the table above) × its credit hours. Courses worth more credits move your GPA more.
Honors and recognition
Most UC campuses award Latin honors (cum laude, magna, summa) to roughly the top percentage of each college’s graduating class, so the GPA cutoff moves year to year. Dean’s List thresholds are set per college.
