Worked example
Two 3-credit courses graded A (4.00) and B (3.00): (4.00 + 3.00) × 3 ÷ 6 = 3.50. Add an A− (3.67) at 3 credits: 12 + 9 + 11.01 = 32.01 ÷ 9 = 3.56.
GPA at University of Illinois: the formula
GPA = total quality points ÷ total credit hours, where each course’s quality points = its grade points (from the table above) × its credit hours. Courses worth more credits move your GPA more.
