Texas A&M uses whole letters only — there is no A−, B+ or any plus/minus grade. Every A is 4.0, every B is 3.0, and so on. The calculator above matches A&M exactly: just leave “+/− grades” turned off.

Worked example
An A (4.0, 3 cr) and a B (3.0, 3 cr): (4.0 + 3.0) × 3 ÷ 6 = 3.50. Add a C (2.0, 3 cr): 12 + 9 + 6 = 27 ÷ 9 = 3.00.
GPA at Texas A&M: the formula
GPA = total quality points ÷ total credit hours, where each course’s quality points = its grade points (from the table above) × its credit hours. Courses worth more credits move your GPA more.
Honors and recognition
Texas A&M uses GPA for Dean’s List and Distinguished Student recognition, set by each college (often around a 3.5–3.75 semester GPA on a full course load).
